Wedding Season....

It's wedding season and I have three weddings cakes to make over the next three months!

I love cake decorating, I don't mind baking the cakes either but my favorite part is the cake decorating, so let me tell you about the cakes I'm going to be making.

The first cake is for a colleague at work, well her daughter actually, she's marrying an Australian guy and they have decided on a ivory cake.  Four tiers and they are using it as their dessert, so they want a simple sponge, jam and butter cream, a Australian mud cake and lemon drizzle cake...hmmm yummy!  The fourth tier is going to be a dummy cake made from polystyrene.

She wants it to look something like this, which is a cake originally by Marks and Spencer;

The lady has a colour scheme of purple, cream and latte so I'm going to incorporate this with ribbon at the base of each cake.

The second cake is for another colleague at work and I have to say I am most excited about making this one.

We have been discussing Lucy's wedding for some time now and her colour theme is black and white, so obviously she was keen to have a black and white cake, here are a few I suggested;

But she finally settle on something like this one and I have to agree it's lovely, just hope it turns out the same!!

The final one is the week after Lucy's and they want a very simple three tier cake with ivory ribbon around the base of the cakes.

I think they are putting fresh flowers on the top which will look lovely.  Well that's what I'll be up to over the summer, well among other things....TTFN~x~

Another cake bites the dust....

Well two cakes actually!

I haven't had a huge amount of time to make anything recently, what with all the cakes I had to make over the past couple of weeks.

This past Saturday I made a cake for a sapphire wedding anniversary, which consumed most of my Saturday

and yesterday I finished making a 'Tiffany' box cake, for a 30th birthday.

I do love making cakes, especially when I can be creative with them but I have to say it can get a tad tedious doing so many!  I shouldn't complain, its flattering people want me to do it for them.

Anyway now they are out of the way I can concentrate on an Easter project I've had in the back of my mind, among several other things I need to finish. So much to do and so little time....TTFN ~x~

The times they are a changing...

This week is a odd week at work with so many people I have worked with leaving this week.  One of which is my boss from my first ever proper job!  Anyway, I was asked to make him a cake for his "retirement" and here it is;

Apparently he's a big rambler and this kinda looks like him!

Let's hope he likes it, he's leaving on Thursday.Then my boss from my current job is also retiring, so the times they are a changing.... TTFN ~x~

Busy, busy, busy...

Yesterday I was pretty busy! Jack had football training in the morning, so the whole family decided to go and watch him, he was pretty good and will begin playing next season. Harry had a field day with not just one, but two playground....one of which had a sunken ship in a sand pit.

When we got home I cracked on and made this;

It was a lovely big chocolate cake with chocolate butter icing, for Jack's friend Max' birthday party today.  He is mad about football, a bit like Jack and had a fab football party.

I have three more cakes for following two weeks and three wedding cakes over the summer. I'm going to be busy, busy, busy. TTFN ~x~

Cakes, glorious cakes........

Just wanted to let you know about my cakes.  My other hobby, baking and decorating cakes which I mostly do for friends, family and work colleagues.  I started making cakes when my eldest son had his 1st birthday and his cake was a Fimbles cake....do you remember the Fimbles??

Well, lets just say I got the bug for it and proceeded to make cakes for other members of my family.  Then one day one of my colleagues was retiring and she was into gardening and had an allotment, so I offered to make a cake...which I have to say turned out pretty good.  Lots of my colleagues at work were impressed and it went from there really.  I don't really advertise my cake making, I just go on word of mouth, but its something I love doing.

Here's one of my favourites;
